Duncan & Davies have proven to be one of New Zealand’s long lasting export successes. In 1899, James Duncan, greatly impressed with plant growth achieved in New Zealand’s Taranaki, started the nursery. Victor Davies became partner in 1910 and established an export trade in New Zealand native trees and seed. By 1946 Duncan & Davies had become the largest nursery in the Southern Hemisphere with products sought after by some of the most prestigious gardens in Europe including Kew Gardens and Edinburgh Botanic Gardens. |
